Presentation Sisters announce newly elected Province Leader

(l to r): Sisters Mary Deane (New Province leader), Sharon Fagan (Leader of the whole Congregation), Susan Richert, Janette Brown

On Monday, 12th May 2025, the English Province of Presentation Sisters gathered at the Presentation Convent Matlock to begin their Assembly – Journeying together in faith and hope.

Having taken time to review their lives and mission since the last Assembly and look at priorities for the next four years, they moved to the election of a new Province Leadership Team.

Sr Mary Deane was elected the new Province Leader for the next four years, responsible for Sisters in England and the Holy Land; Sr Janette Brown and Sr Susan Richert were elected Leadership Team members.

Sr Mary Deane grew up in the city of Nottingham and joined the Presentation Sisters in 1987. She made her Novitiate in Manchester and in Birmingham and then returned to teaching in Redditch. In 1993, she became Chaplain to Coventry University and later to Nottingham Trent.

Sr Mary served five years on the English Provincial Leadership Team before being elected onto the Central Leadership Team based in Ireland. Following this she was elected as Congregational Leader of the Presentation Sisters with responsibility for the Sisters worldwide. In 2018, following a sabbatical, Sr Mary resided in Langwith Junction, Mansfield and took up several ministries – both for the Congregation and in the Parish. In 2021, she was appointed to the Leadership Team in England.
